DDTI Installs E9-1-1 Software in Pickaway County

www.ddti.net/E911Dispatch.aspx

Festival-goers of the “greatest free show on earth,” the Circleville Pumpkin Show in Pickaway County, will be safer next year, thanks to Digital Data Technologies, Inc.’s (DDTI®) AccuGlobe® E9-1-1 Dispatch™ mapping software. DDTI completed installation and training of the application at the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office, the default Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for all of the County's wireless calls. The Circleville Police Department also has AccuGlobe E9-1-1 software installed in their dispatch center.

“Safety is paramount every day of the year, but having the reliability and accuracy of AccuGlobe E9-1-1 Dispatch is especially helpful during our big event over four days every October when we attract 400,000 tourists to a town of only 12,000“ said Pickaway County 9-1-1 Coordinator Terry Frazier. “We pride ourselves on service, and the E9-1-1 Dispatch software helps us enhance what we provide to our community and those who visit.”

AccuGlobe E9-1-1 Dispatch reads direct Automatic Location Information (ALI) via an associated server component. The server then populates 9-1-1 calls on the dispatchers’ screen as locations on the jurisdictional map. Calls from land lines zoom directly to the structure using the county’s existing Geographical Information System. Wireless calls, depending on the carrier, will appear as points on the map surrounded by a circle, or buffer, indicating confidence of the call location.

Encinitas, California, Brings GIS-Centric Asset Management to the Forefront

www.azteca.com

Since 2002, the City of Encinitas, California, has been deploying Cityworks in a methodical, phased process throughout its various departments and divisions. As a result, the City has experienced an array of significant improvements in streamlining maintenance operations.

In 2002, the Water Department implemented the first phase for managing more than 60,000 water infrastructure features in Cityworks, including water meters and service lines. The following year, in combination with a detailed data collection exercise, the City deployed Cityworks to manage the storm drainage system for the Public Works Street Maintenance and Waste Water Collection Divisions, and are also using Cityworks to administer the City’s Clean Water Program and Commercial Site Inspections for the Engineering Stormwater Division. Encinitas continued the phased process adding street asset and sewer infrastructure inventory and work order tracking for the City’s Streets and Wastewater Divisions.

Today, Encinitas hosts more than 70 Cityworks users across five departments and is currently implementing Cityworks to manage parks assets. In addition, the City has developed an in-house training program to keep existing staff up-to-date and train new staff. Future plans include adding hydrant inspections and Commercial Site Inspections for the Fire Department, and deploying units for field staff.

Envista Launches Breakthrough Solution for Infrastructure Project Coordination

www.Envista.com

Envista Corporation unveiled its web-based Envista solution for infrastructure project coordination among multiple infrastructure stakeholders. Envista’s groundbreaking technology introduces map-driven, real-time sharing of construction and maintenance project schedules among municipalities, utilities, and highway agencies. Envista’s “Software as a Service” allows project leaders to view projects on a map, and see what work is planned in a specific geographic location during a particular time period. This new capability enables stakeholders to instantly troubleshoot potential conflicts. Envista pioneers a wide range of features including automatic geo-location of projects on a map, instant identification of conflicts, integrated communication among project owners, management dashboard views, and more. Using the Internet and a standard browser, annual subscribers have a convenient, centralized way to exchange planning schedules with all stakeholders.

ESRI and Adobe Collaborate to Provide Increased Interaction with PDF Maps

www.esri.com

ESRI announced support for Adobe Acrobat 9 software and new geospatial capabilities available in PDF with the release of ArcGIS 9.3. ESRI has collaborated with Adobe Systems Incorporated over the past year to ensure a seamless workflow for geographic information system (GIS) professionals using ArcGIS who wish to widely distribute maps in PDF. Recipients of PDF map documents can find and display a location in the file using x,y coordinates as well as measure features directly on the map. This enabling capability enhances both existing customer workflows and creates new ones because recipients without ArcGIS can directly interact in new ways with maps using Acrobat 9.

ArcGIS 9.3 users can author a map document and export it in PDF for wide distribution while passing along the ability for increased end-user interaction with the document beyond simple viewing. “We are excited that our collaborative work with Adobe allows our users to distribute their GIS maps to a wider audience,” said Damian Spangrud, senior ArcGIS product manager, ESRI. “The portability and pervasiveness of Acrobat and Adobe Reader software allows ArcGIS users to better share their geographic information with their end users. The advanced features in Acrobat 9 mean users can now do more with PDF maps than ever before.”

ESRI Business Analyst Online Now Includes New Data for Creating More Detailed Analyses

www.esri.com/bao

New datasets added to Business Analyst Online, ESRI’s Web-based business analysis tool, enable professionals in commercial real estate, retail, economic development, urban planning, and public safety organizations to conduct even more comprehensive market analyses with data reports and imagery.

“This information will be invaluable to our customers, enabling them to make even better business decisions that can improve their efficiencies and grow revenues,” says Brenda Wolfe, Business Analyst Online product manager, ESRI.

Comprehensive workforce and skills data for the United States provides a detailed view of local workforce populations and types of labor available by employee demographics, skills, training, experience, and occupations. Workforce Strategies, Inc., an experienced data vendor of workforce and labor market data for more than 20 years, provided the information for these reports. Analysts can use this data to identify labor shortages and increased competition for workers, create strategies to optimize an area’s labor force, better understand a local labor force, and market the strengths of local labor by skill sets.

Understanding safety issues in a market is a critical element of any trade area analysis. CrimeRisk data from Applied Geographic Solutions (AGS) provides information about personal and property crimes such as murder, rape, robbery, assault, burglary, larceny, and motor vehicle theft. The CrimeRisk Profile provides totals and indexes for 10 crime categories that are illustrated with a chart for easy interpretation. CrimeRisk thematic maps are also available for each of the 10 categories. Urban planning, public safety, economic development, retail, and commercial real estate professionals can use this data to assess crime activity by trade area, define areas for increased police coverage, plan marketing strategies, and provide important response information to sales staff.

Traffic congestion data from LandSonar includes information for nonholiday weekday periods by median expected road speed conditions on interstates, major highways, and selected major roads in the continental United States.
