Intermap Technologies Acquires GIS Applications Developer, MMC

www.intermap.com

Intermap Technologies Corp. announced it has acquired the shares and ongoing operations of MultiMedia Computer s.r.o. (MMC), a Czech Republic software development company. The acquired business includes a current customer base, a recurring revenue stream, and a unique software development platform that Intermap has previously used to develop customer applications. MMC has also successfully used its software and the technical expertise of its 20-person staff to develop and deploy flood-mapping applications while securing strong relationships within the European insurance industry. The acquisition of MMC will enable Intermap to evolve its product offerings from pure data sales to solution-based applications for specific markets where strong demand for 3D digital elevation data exists.

“The acquisition of MMC allows Intermap to quickly deliver highly innovative solutions to our customers worldwide,” explained Brian Bullock, president and CEO of Intermap Technologies. “MMC's current success in the insurance industry will be leveraged into additional markets within our geographic reach. For example, MMC's technological expertise will help propel Intermap into the emerging recreational PND and advanced driver assistance systems arenas. Additionally, MMC will support our continued efforts to bundle progressive solutions for existing enterprise and government markets.”

Land Securities, Selects Percussion Software's Rhythmyx WCM Solution

www.landsecurities.co

Land Securities, which boasts a £14.4 billion UK property portfolio, is placing Percussion's Rhythmyx web content management system at the heart of exciting plans to regenerate and extend the reach of its online assets. More than fifty internal and external websites will ultimately be served by Rhythmyx, including the company's Intranet, micro-sites for the company's shopping centres (including The Bridges in Sunderland and the White Rose Centre in Leeds), and a brand new community portal serving the occupiers of Land Securities’ London Portfolio of over 200 buildings. “Rhythmyx puts total control of content from creation to archive at our fingertips”, comments Land Securities Programme Manager, Wendy Antaw.

“Not only are we saving on the cost and time taken to create new sites but we're also empowering individual business units to create, manage and reuse content far more efficiently. Because we can monitor everything in one place, the lines of business get the autonomy they need without any compromise in the standard and consistency of web delivery across the business. Now we're truly in a position to maximise return on content at every stage in a website's lifecycle; From communicating with key stakeholders and investors during the earliest stages of a development, to leasing commercial units, to maximising footfall in a shopping centre to creating a community of tenants around a major development”, says Antaw.

LandNet Corp. Receives Second Patent for Online Mapping and Real Estate Archiving Tools

www.landvoyage.com/

LandNet Corporation, a leading provider of Internet mapping solutions, has been issued a patent for its online PropertyArchive tool. On January 30, 2007, the U.S. Patent Office awarded patent 7,171,389 with 26 claims to the Property Archive tool entitled “identification, storage, and display of land data on a Web site.” This patent dates back to June 1, 2001, when internet mapping was at its infancy.

“Unlike the “static” aerial photos that are seen on sites such as Google, Microsoft, and Yahoo, Property Archives turns each ordinary map or aerial photo into a dynamic password-secure, site-specific personalized website allowing user interaction to upload photographs, e-documents, and important web links,” said Craig Harrison, CEO LandNet.

This patent issuance follows the May 30th, 2006 announcement when LandNet was issued its first patent 7,054,741 with 49 patent claims which relate to a multitude of online mapping and searching tools that are described as the “Land Software Tool.” These tools enabled LandVoyage to be one of the first online mapping site in the highly competitive market that now includes Google Earth, Microsoft Virtual Earth, and DigitalGlobe’s GlobeXplorer.

With the second patent recently issued, LandNet Corporation is currently exploring the opportunity to sell the internet mapping platform along with its existing and five pending patents. The company is also interested in joint venture opportunities such as a strategic merger or technology/patent licensing. Interested parties should contact Craig Harrison, CEO at 970-612-4100 or Craig@harrisonresource.com.

LBS Developers Look to ESRI for a Competitive Edge in the NAVTEQ LBS Challenge

www.esri.com/

Location-based services (LBS) developers participating in the 2008 North America NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge gain a competitive edge using ESRI as their mobile solution development platform. ESRI is a sponsor for the LBS Challenge, an annual competition that provides developers with an opportunity to showcase their location-based solutions and win a variety of prizes including up to $50,000 in cash from NAVTEQ and data licenses from ESRI. Contest participants looking to build winning solutions can sign up for no--cost access to ArcWeb Services, ESRI’s hosted Web services mapping and geographic information system (GIS) application programming interfaces (APIs).

“Mobile application developers who choose ESRI’s ArcWeb Services can be more successful in reaching their objective,” says Randy Frantz, telecommunications and LBS solutions manager for ESRI. “Because the APIs go well beyond basic maps and directions, these developers will be able to focus on solving business problems rather than having to spend precious development cycles building complex mapping functionality from scratch.” Developers use the ArcWeb Services APIs for integrating mapping functionality and geographic content into mobile, browser, and server applications to help solve business problems such as best-route delivery planning or advanced vehicle tracking that includes off-route or out-of-service-area alarms.

Contest entrants register solutions in one of five categories: Enterprise, Entertainment/Leisure, Navigation, Social Networking, or Third-Party Content. Prizes for the winners include cash and licenses for the use of NAVTEQ data and ESRI’s ArcWeb Services as well as offerings from other sponsors. Nine past LBS Challenge winners have launched commercial applications on major wireless carriers, and eight previous LBS Challenge participants received venture capital funding. Winners will be announced at the CTIA Wireless 2008 show, held April 1–3, 2008, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Registration for the North America LBS challenge closes December 7, 2007. To sign up, visit www.esri.com/lbschallenge.
