GANNETT NEWSPAPERS AND MAPQUEST TEAM UP TO EXPAND MAPPING AND ROUTING FUNCTIONALITY

MapQuest announced an expanded agreement with Gannett, Co., Inc., the USA’s largest newspaper group in terms of circulation, to map–enable the community calendar platform utilized by many of Gannett’s newspapers nationwide. Under the agreement, Gannett licensed MapQuest Enterprise v2.0, a set of advanced, customizable, enterprise mapping tools from MapQuest Business Solutions for integration within the community calendar platform of Gannett Newspapers websites, including such leading newspapers as The Indianapolis Star, The Journal News of Westchester, NY, and The Courier Journal of Louisville, KY.


Avenza’s New Live Demo of MAPublisher

Avenza Systems’ MAPublisher now can be demonstrated live over the internet using a new technology from Glance Networks (www.glance.net). Similar to Webex, Glance does not require any additional client side software. Clients simply enter avenza.glance.net into a browser window, enter a four digit password and they are able to view the desktop of an Avenza representative who then provides a custom live demo of MAPublisher's capabilities. The person taking the demo can ask questions and request a review of specific functionality. TELSTRA SELECTS GE NETWORK SOLUTIONS APPLICATIONS

Australian telecommunications operator Telstra chose GE Network Solutions’ Smallworld Network Inventory™ (http://www.gepower.com/)portfolio of products for its upgraded network planning and engineering system. In a multi-million dollar contract, Telstra will upgrade its incumbent Cable Plant Records (CPR) system to use the Physical Network Inventory™ product as a platform to plan, design, construct and manage its wireline network.



Electric Energy and InfoNetrix Announce New Automation/IT Publication

ArcWeb for Developers Now Includes NG TOPO! Maps

ESRI announced that ArcWeb for Developers now includes National Geographic Society (NG) TOPO! 1:24,000 and 1:100,000 scale maps for the United States. These are the most detailed maps available for outdoor enthusiasts, hobbyists, and professionals. Subscribers to ArcWeb for Developers can access NG TOPO! maps as raster images in JPEG, GIF, PNG, or PNG8 format and include them in their Web applications. ArcWeb for Developers is a suite of GIS Web services that ESRI offers to developers and is part of ESRI's family of ArcWeb Services. With ArcWeb for Developers, developers can include GIS content and capabilities in their applications without hosting the data or developing any GIS applications themselves, resulting in significant savings of development time, expense, and computer resources. ArcWeb for Developers uses XML based Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) to communicate, making it compatible with the majority of Web service frameworks available today.
