Retail customers are demanding more and more from brick-and-motor stores, and many of those demands transcend physical elements.
Delivering an exceptional customer experience has never been more challenging. Retailers need to leverage technology to embrace new consumer habits and shopping styles while also meeting their in-store expectations with enhanced and personalized experiences and an interactive physical shopping journey.
To understand the emerging demands for retail customer experience, Juniper conducted two surveys: the Juniper Workplaces and Public Spaces Enterprise IT Survey and the Juniper Remote Workplaces and Public Spaces Consumer Survey.
The surveys showed that 95% of customers and 78% of retailers value new, connected retail-customer experiences that will provide a faster and more personalized service to customers, as well as the added growth opportunities that come with winning new customers. Our survey revealed what IT teams are doing to deliver these connected retail experiences and how Wi-Fi has become the top retail investment priority.
There are three important criteria that will help retailers build an amazing experience for their customers, including:

The Office of Emergency Communications (OEC) is pleased to announce the release of the first funding opportunity under the new Geographic Information System (GIS) grant program for enabling NextGeneration9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) services.
The Office of Emergency Communications (OEC) is pleased to announce the release of the first funding opportunity under the new Geographic Information System (GIS) grant program for enabling NextGeneration9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) services. The Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs (DMA) is allocated $1.5 million annually for awarding grants under the GIS grant program. Grant eligibility criteria, allowable and unallowable expenses are governed by Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs agency policy.
OEC, as part of the DMA, provides program management for the implementation of the statewide emergency services IP-based network (ESInet) for NG9-1-1 services and is responsible for administering this new grant program.

The firm will provide survey, engineering, and GIS data acquisition and development for the third-busiest airport in the world.
The Denver International Airport (DEN) has selected Woolpert to provide on-call geospatial support services under a multiyear, $1.4 million contract. Services include geospatial and traditional survey, GIS data acquisition and development, digital elevation modeling and analyses, interior and exterior lidar acquisition, building information modeling and 3D scanning, civil engineering and application development.
DEN became the third-busiest airport in the world in 2021, serving approximately 59 million passengers for the year. The airport is Colorado’s primary economic engine, generating more than $33 billion annually for the region, and continues to expand to meet demand. Woolpert Aviation Program Director and Senior Associate Ed Copeland said the airport’s mature GIS system will benefit from the latest technologies and solutions, which support efficient and cost-effective decisions to help guide and accelerate recovery from the pandemic and growth.
“Geospatial data streamlines and accelerates systems and processing at airports, assisting with workflow management, asset location and management, and overall coordination and execution,” Copeland said. “We’re looking at integrating AutoCAD, BIM and GIS data with other systems to support operations and maintenance, utilizing the IoT (Internet of Things) and incorporating live information into dashboarding and other applications.”
This on-call GIS airport contract is the most recent awarded to Woolpert, which is providing similar support to airports across the country. Woolpert is adept at providing aviation engineering and design, supporting both airside and landside development, and is a leader in geospatial technologies and applications.

The Landsat-informed kelpwatch.org hosts the world’s largest open-source dynamic map of kelp forest canopy.
The Nature Conservancy, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) have launched
Kelpwatch.org
, the world’s largest map of kelp forest canopy in both time and space extending from Baja California, Mexico, to the Oregon-Washington State border seasonally from 1984–2021.
A groundbreaking open-source web tool, Kelpwatch.org harnesses the power of machine learning and cutting-edge remote sensing science to analyze nearly 40 years of Landsat satellite data and interactively display kelp forest canopy. Kelpwatch.org users can select a region, time frame and seasons of interest to animate the changes in kelp canopy over time and freely download data.
The web tool has been launched amid historic and sustained declines in many kelp forest ecosystems, which provide crucial services to both people and nature. Changing ocean conditions including marine heatwaves linked to climate change have precipitated the loss of kelp in many regions around the world, with further declines anticipated in response to ocean warming.
“Kelp forests are home to thousands of species, locally mitigate the effects of ocean acidification and provide valuable services for coastal communities,” said Vienna Saccomanno, an ocean scientist with The Nature Conservancy who leads the group’s Kelp Mapping and Monitoring Program. “Knowing where remaining healthy kelp forests are located and the long-term history of kelp forests is the first step in strategic restoration. Kelpwatch.org provides this information and is a game-changer for resetting the ecosystem.”
