P2 Energy Solutions, a leading provider of business software, map data and enterprise services to the oil and gas industry, announces the release of Enterprise Land 3.0.
Enterprise Land offers Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and robust land modules which streamline and expedite the end-to-end land management cycle. The modules are extensible and loosely coupled which means they can function stand-alone or integrated with other applications such as Excalibur, Enterprise Upstream and Tobin GIS Studio. The 3.0 release continues to extend the set of land modules with flexible components and rich functionality on a highly-scalable, proven and sustaining architecture. Along with functional and usability enhancements to the entire suite, 3.0 includes a groundbreaking new module. The Lease Acquisition module provides a way to easily capture and report on lease, mineral and surface ownership information based on legal land descriptions. This module provides ease and flexibility in leasing activity, budget tracking, costs and payment of drafts and is uniquely capable of integrating the wealth of data gathered by brokers or land agents at the field level.
What is radically new about Lease Acquisition is that it focuses on managing field operations from a company’s perspective. A heightened awareness of data sensitivity and cost controls has forced companies to reassess how they identify and capture field data as it pertains to land management. Many executives are recognizing the need for a broker management system, such as Lease Acquisition, housed and operated within their own land department.

PA-MAPPS, the first state chapter of MAPPS, the national association of private geospatial firms, became the first organization to formally endorse the “Geospatial Coordination Strategic Plan for Pennsylvania”, which calls for the establishment of a Pennsylvania Statewide Geospatial Coordination Council. Upon the PA-MAPPS membership’s unanimous vote to endorse the strategy, newly elected President Mike Shillenn (Photo Science, West Chester, PA) proposed the creation of a state version of the Council of Geospatial Organizations (COGO) to organize stakeholders in support of the plan.
The PA-MAPPS members unanimously voted on June 11 to endorse the strategic plan, which was managed by the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania (CCAP) through funding by a Cooperative Assistance Program (CAP) grant provided by the US Geological Survey (USGS), the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) and in kind service to stake holders. The plan was completed in May.
Upon taking office as Pennsylvania state chapter President at the association’s annual membership meeting, Shillenn said he wants PA-MAPPS to be “a voice, advocate and catalyst for geospatial activities in the Commonwealth.” He told the members, “At the national level, last year, an organization was created known as COGO - the Coalition of Geospatial Organizations. Here in Pennsylvania, I want to explore the formation of an informal POGO - The Pennsylvania Organization of Geospatial Organizations - an umbrella, a coalition of the willing, to make a Pennsylvania Statewide Geospatial Strategic Plan a reality, to see it fully implemented.”

PassagePlus is a passage planning and navigation application aimed at the leisure boating market. It is compatible with the UK Hydrographic Office’s ARCS Skipper, Land Information New Zealand’s NZMariner and the Australian Hydrographic Service’s Seafarer RNC electronic charts. Passage planning includes the creation or import of waypoints and routes and the input of tidal information. Navigation can be by means of an attached GPS or by traditional means such as bearing fix and dead reckoning. It also supports the detection of other vessels by AIS. PassagePlus targets the leisure boating market–sail or power and is intended for the day/weekend coastal sailor. Our goal was to give it an uncluttered interface usable on a small laptop like a MacBook and to restrict the feature set to those things that might be used frequently by this kind of user.
PassagePlus is a Universal binary that runs on Mac OS X 10.3.9 and above on PowerPC Macs and Mac OS X 10.4.4 and above on Intel Macs.
