LizardTech, a division of Celartem Inc. and a leading provider of software solutions for managing and distributing digital content, announced the release of the MrSID Generation 4 Decode SDK (MG4 DSDK) to compliment the release of LizardTech LiDAR Compressor. This SDK leverages the new and improved version of the MrSID format that enables users to view and access their LiDAR data much faster than traditional uncompressed formats would have allowed.
Trusted as a raster format by geospatial professionals since 1992 and supported in virtually all GIS applications, MrSID is the highest quality file format with the most advanced compression technology available. A free download of the MrSID Generation 4 Decode SDK is available at developer.lizardtech.com, and enables application developers to add support for viewing and decoding LiDAR datasets compressed to MrSID.

LizardTech, a division of Celartem Inc. and a provider of software solutions for managing and distributing geospatial content, announced the release of the MrSID Plug-in for ArcGIS 3D Analyst at the GEOINT 2009 Symposium in San Antonio, Texas, hosted by the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) October 19-21, 2009.
Until now, LizardTech’s customers, who widely use ArcGIS 3D Analyst, were not able to load point cloud datasets that were compressed to MrSID Generation 4 using LiDAR Compressor into ESRI’s 3D Analyst product. However, with the release of this free plug-in, 3D Analyst users can load point cloud datasets compressed to MrSID Generation 4 to create surfaces for use in line-of-sight and terrain modeling, visualization, and spatial analysis.

LizardTech, a division of Celartem Inc. and a provider of software solutions for managing and distributing geospatial content, announced the integration of its MrSID Generation 4 Decode SDK (MG4 DSDK) into Merrick & Company’s MARS® (Merrick Advanced Remote Sensing) software application.
With the integration of LizardTech’s MG4 Decode SDK, MARS® users will be able to efficiently load MrSID files into the application for data visualization purposes. Clients utilizing LizardTech’s LiDAR Compressor can convert their LAS point cloud data into compressed MrSID files, which can then be loaded into MARS® for visualizing and managing LiDAR terrain datasets. MARS® is a robust, production-grade Windows application designed to manage, visualize, process and analyze LiDAR data.
“MrSID has been a leading technology for raster imagery,” said Bill Emison, MARS® product manager. “Now that we’ve integrated MrSID support for LiDAR, we’re excited to give our customers tools for viewing compressed point cloud data.”
“LizardTech’s product development efforts with LiDAR Compressor have been focused around product integration from the very beginning to ensure that our customers can use our product in as many other applications as possible,” said Jon Skiffington, LizardTech’s director of marketing. “This is an integration that our customers have been waiting for so we’re pleased to announce that now our customers can easily load point cloud datasets compressed to MrSID Generation 4 into MARS®.”

LizardTech, a division of Celartem Inc., announced that during the first week of release nearly 3,000 copies were downloaded of their newly launched GeoViewer 3.0, now offered as a free, standalone application for viewing geospatial imagery and vector overlays.
“We knew our customers would be excited about the free GeoViewer, but we didn't expect the number of downloads to be this high,” said Jon Skiffington, LizardTech senior product manager. “The feedback has been incredibly positive, and the number of downloads after just one week of availability shows how eager our users are to try this new product.”
The free GeoViewer application replaces LizardTech’s previous GeoExpress View utility that was offered for $299. GeoViewer 3.0 enables users to view and export layers from varied sources, such as local repositories, Express Server catalogs, and WMS and JPIP servers. GeoViewer supports a wide range of input formats and exports to GeoTIFF, PNG and JPEG. It's the most efficient means of viewing MrSID and JPEG 2000 images.
